grad school update
for those of you who care, i've had some major grad school developments in the past two weeks. basically, i'm accepted to u hawaii, i just came back from a visit to u miami, and now i can't decide between the two. coolest part about the u miami open house was getting to meet some of my future colleagues. i think it's interesting how a good chunk of marine biologists come from the mid-west... i guess being landlocked gets to you as a child.
i'm also being invited to visit hawaii sometime in the next two months. preferably, on a weekend when it's cold and snowstorming in nyc. anyway, both schools are considered the best in coral research, with some key advantages to each:
univ of miami: more money, closer to home, a lifetime supply of platanos, drinking with profs every friday at the school's very own bar overlooking the bay, potential research project based in the philippines
univ of hawaii: it's in hawaii!
ahhhh! (i know... isnt this all so tragic? hawaii or miami... aloha or bienvenidos... sun or sun... haha) any advice?
