LIRR
the fact that i still manage to drag myself into the city on the weekends is amazing considering that i spend 20 hours a week commuting to work. but i have to admit, the LIRR makes for some entertaining ish, as long as you're in the right mood for it.
i took the 245am babylon train, aka the drunk train. i've grown quite fond of this one hour and 15 minute circus show. since i get off at the last stop, i don't have to worry about missing my station (assuming that someone is nice enough to wake me up), so i tend to spend these train rides attempting to sleep... or just falling in and out of consciousness, each time opening my eyes to a new unfolding vignette. last night, the guy sitting next to me was clearly stoned... he spent the whole ride home chuckling and making random side comments to me about all the characters on our train car. fine by me, better than sitting next to the drunk guy who just barely made it into the bathroom to throw up on the floor. meanwhile, these two guys on opposite sides of the cars one with a rangers jersey the other with an islanders jersey, would not shut up about yankees versus mets. "can't we all just get along!" yells the stoned guy. at jamaica, this cutie pie walks in, and asks one of the guys in my car why the elbow part of his shirt is stained with blood. his attempt at picking her up: "because i saw your beautiful face, and i just got so excited i started bleeding." wtf!
i feel like we're soldiers. every weekend making the two hour crossing into the city... first ones in, last ones out. storming the city and then getting packed liked sardines, some with injuries, into rundown train cars for the long journey back home.
guess what?... i'm moving into stuytown in december!!!!!!
